Each committee plays a vital role in advancing BIA’s mission through advocacy, education, membership growth, and community engagement. By volunteering their time, expertise, and resources, committee members help shape policies, expand workforce opportunities, and ensure our industry continues to build the living spaces people call home.

Government Relations

BIA Hawaii’s Government Relations Committee serves as the association’s voice in legislative and regulatory affairs. The GRC monitors bills, policies, and ordinances that affect Hawai‘i’s building industry and provides guidance on advocacy priorities. Committee members work closely with local, state, and federal officials to promote balanced, responsible development and to ensure that housing remains safe, affordable, and attainable for Hawai‘i’s residents.

The Finance Committee provides oversight and strategic guidance for BIA Hawaii’s fiscal health. Members review budgets, financial reports, and long-term planning to ensure resources are managed responsibly and align with the association’s mission and goals. Through sound financial stewardship, the committee helps sustain BIA’s programs, advocacy efforts, and member services that strengthen Hawai‘i’s building industry.

Membership

The Membership Committee focuses on growing and strengthening BIA Hawaii’s network of industry professionals. Members develop strategies to recruit, engage, and retain members while ensuring each company and individual experiences the full value of BIA membership. The committee also helps plan outreach initiatives, networking events, and recognition programs that foster connection, collaboration, and pride within Hawai‘i’s building community.

Home Show

The Home Show Committee helps plan and enhance BIA Hawaii’s signature consumer events, the Home Building and Remodeling Shows held each January and August. Committee members collaborate on event strategy, exhibitor experience, sponsorship development, and marketing initiatives that connect local professionals with homeowners across Hawai‘i. Their work ensures the shows remain trusted, high-quality events that showcase innovation, craftsmanship, and the value of building with BIA members.

Events

The Events Committee supports the planning and execution of BIA Hawaii’s key gatherings, including membership meetings, networking events, and the annual Installation and Awards Banquet. Committee members collaborate to create meaningful experiences that strengthen relationships within the building industry and highlight member achievements. Their efforts help foster community, celebrate excellence, and advance BIA’s mission through well-organized and engaging events.

Education

Hawaii Building Industry Foundation

The Hawaii Building Industry Foundation supports industry training programs & student scholarships to build awareness and understanding of the different trade opportunities and the skills needed to pursue a career in the industry, while offering a competitive advantage for entry-level positions in the workforce and apprenticeship programs, all while strengthening Hawaii’s construction workforce.
