Malcolm Mamac | DR Horton
Our Story: Malcolm Mamac – DR Horton
At BIA Hawaii, we proudly honor the builders who have not only shaped skylines but also shaped careers through mentorship, leadership, and lived experience. With 46 years in the construction industry, Project Superintendent Malcolm Mamac and proud member of Carpenters Union Local 745 stands as a pillar of our industry—someone who has built not only homes, but people.
Building the Future: Mentorship & Community Impact
His journey began in 1979 as a union laborer, working his way into the carpentry trade by 1982. Over the years, he mastered the art of framing, developing a deep respect for hands-on work and the value of precision in the field. His pride in his craft and his commitment to the Carpenters Union have remained steadfast throughout the decades.
In 2000, he stepped into a new chapter as a Project Superintendent with DR Horton, where he has since led the construction of both single-family and multi-family housing projects. His role goes far beyond scheduling and site management—it’s about mentoring teams, fostering a strong work ethic, and instilling confidence in every tradesperson he leads. His influence has helped shape jobsite culture rooted in safety, efficiency, and pride in the work.
To him, success in construction isn’t just about technical skill—it’s about leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence. This philosophy has guided him for over four decades and continues to inspire the next generation of builders who work under his leadership.
Why We Support BIA-Hawaii
His involvement with BIA Hawaii is grounded in a deep sense of responsibility to give back—to share the wealth of knowledge gained from a lifetime on the jobsite. Through BIA classes and mentorship, he imparts not just skills, but values: hard work, unity, and belief in oneself.
His personal motto, “Believe, and you can do anything,” isn’t just a phrase—it’s a lived truth. Whether mentoring an apprentice or troubleshooting complex site challenges, he approaches every situation with patience, perspective, and passion.
Outside of construction, you’ll find him riding his bike, restoring cars, shooting pool, or spending time with family and his dog. These hobbies reflect the same hands-on, problem-solving mindset that’s made him a success in the field.
We are proud to recognize and thank this Project Superintendent and lifelong union carpenter for his decades of service, his mentorship, and his unwavering belief in the potential of Hawaii’s construction workforce.
