On Tuesday, January 14, BIA-Hawaii held its annual Legislative Day breakfast at the State Capitol. The purpose of this breakfast is to meet and greet with legislators prior to the legislative session opening, but mostly to share with them our own legislative priorities that we will be working hard on. It also allows an opportunity for legislators to share with us their own priorities, particularly those that impact our industry, with the hope and goal of working together. Like Senate President Donna Mercado Kim said, everything impacts our industry, and vice versa, and she commends us for seeing the big picture and working on issues that benefits our entire economy in Hawaii.

Thirteen senators, two senate staffers, eighteen representatives and five representative staffers attended, for a total of 38 legislators.

After the breakfast, we walked around the Capitol and dropped off our legislative packets to legislators unable to attend.

Thank you to our members who attended: we had 24 BIA members, 2 BIA interns, and 1 NAHB student chapter representative.
