  • A Message from the 2017 BIA-Hawaii Past-President

Hawaii’s building industry continuously innovates and advances through the efforts of construction professionals who possess highly specialized knowledge and skills. These abilities are honed over decades, and each new generation of designers and builders raises the level of quality and sophistication by building on the preceding generation’s accomplishments.

BIA-Hawaii established the Leading Young Professionals Group in 2017 to bring together the best and brightest - and youngest - members of the association. The idea was simple: host networking events that would appeal to young professionals in our industry for exchanging
ideas and creating opportunities for personal, professional, and business growth. With their boundless energy and passion for the industry, coupled with their ability to embrace and integrate advanced technologies for communications, design and construction management, they would encourage other young professionals to join BIA-Hawaii and inject new vitality into our entire membership by highlighting their progress and achievements.

Lead by members Alan Twu of HK Construction and Brenton Liu of Design Trends Construction, our Leading Young Professionals Group has already held some high-energy events for the “under-forty” crowd. In case you’re wondering, they “card” at the door to make sure no one born prior to 1978 sneaks in and tries to change the music or lower the volume! And, polyester is a definite “no-go” fashion faux pas with this crowd, so even if you’re UNDER the age limit, you’d better update your wardrobe before thinking about signing up for their next event!
