Q: Can only BIA-Hawaii members enter a team?
A: No, if you know of a group that wants to enter their famous stew, please let us know.
Q: Do teams prepare the stew on site?
A: No, stew pots will be provided the week prior to the event and teams prepare their stew ahead of time.
Q: What will BIA provide?
A: BIA will provide each team with a 5-gallon stew pot, a 6-foot table and a propane burner. Stew cups, spoons, napkins and dessert will also be provided.
Q: How many stew teams are there?
A: BIA-Hawaii usually has between 12 and 15 stew teams but can accommodate more entries. Each team will serve small cups of their stew for sampling by guests. You can have more servings of your favorite stew.
Q: Is this a competition? Who judges the stews?
A: Yes, this is a competition with monetary prizes for the first three winners. There is also a prize for the “people’s choice”. BIA-Hawaii invites judges who may be professional chefs, food editors, people in charge of food service for a variety of organizations or anyone we know to be a true love of good food to be our judges.

A: Taste, originality & presentation. There is also another prize for “Best Theme”.
